Introduced in the early post-war years, the Longines “Sei Tacche” occupies an important place in the brand’s history. The case style emerged at a moment when Swiss watchmaking moved away from delicate pre-war constructions toward cases that could better withstand daily life. Its nickname, “Sei Tacche” (Italian for “six notches”), refers to the distinctive six-notch screw-down caseback, a technical detail that underscored Longines’ commitment to improved water resistance while maintaining classical proportions. By 1951, this balance of utility and refinement had become a signature of the manufacture, and the Sei Tacche stands today as one of the most emblematic expressions of that era.
While often associated with larger men’s models, the Sei Tacche was also executed in smaller, more refined proportions, offering the same architectural integrity in a ladies’ size format. This 1953 example captures that ethos perfectly, distilling utility and elegance into a compact, beautifully balanced design.
The stainless steel case is restrained yet purposeful, with long, sculpted lugs that flow seamlessly from the mid-case and give the watch a strong wrist presence without excess thickness.
